Waihanga Ara Rau, representatives from the temporary traffic management (TTM) industry, and providers have completed the review of unit standards 31957-63. They have confirmed the need to expire the standards as they are no longer fit for purpose, and the last day for assessment is 31 December 2026.
Removing prerequisites from unit standards 31959-63 coincides with NZ Transport Agency|Waka Kotahi ending of warrants and is effective from 1 November 2024. The removal of prerequisites will allow for the award of unit standards to TTM personnel who are currently competent to complete Recognition of Current Competence (RCC) for individual standards.
The purpose of the unit standard describes what the person will be able to do once awarded the standard. Removing the prerequisites does not change this outcome, and it should not impact the quality of training for TTM personnel. The person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU) has the overall responsibility to ensure the safety of TTM personnel on a TTM worksite in line with the HSWA Act 2015.
TTM personnel who need to learn new skills for the risk-based approach to TTM should use the new standards. These standards align with the TTM Credentials Framework, which reflects the approach and direction of TTM training.
