Council Member

Brendon Green, Ngāti Hikairo, Ngāpuhi, is an experienced director with a portfolio that has focused on energy, water, infrastructure and innovation. Brendon brings deep experience with the Māori economy and working with Māori communities. He is currently a director of Rau Paenga, Hiringa Energy, Tainui Kawhia Incorporation, Scion and the establishment board for the Auckland-Northland Water Services Entity.

Brendon is Co-Chair of the Waikato Regional Skills Leadership Group, Runanga member for MIT Te Pūkenga and a Senior Fellow for the Chemical Engineering faculty of the University of Canterbury. Previous governance roles include Watercare and Waikato District Council’s Infrastructure Committee and as a Marae representative to Te Whakakitenga o Waikato. He has held several executive positions in energy companies in New Zealand and North America with companies including Wattstock LLC, Mercury Energy, General Electric and Contact Energy. Brendon holds a degree in Chemical and Process Engineering, a post graduate diploma in Dairy Science and Technology and completed Cambridge University’s program in Circular Economies and Sustainability Strategies.
