WDC support required to register a micro-credential

Waihanga Ara Rau support is now required before education providers can seek approval from NZQA for micro-credentials related to construction and infrastructure.

To list or review a micro-credential for the construction and infrastructure sector on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (NZQCF), education providers must now apply to us for a letter of support.

This is part of our role to ensure that the vocational education and training sector is meeting industry needs. We’re encouraging providers to talk to us early in the process and to look for relevant workforce development information and advice published on our website to check if their planned micro-credential meets industry needs.

We will look at applications for support to consider:

  • Does it add value to industry, learners, and the community?
  • Does it meet an industry need?
  • Does it have a coherent structure?
  • Does it address a skills or pathway gap?

Education providers who are developing a micro-credential, or have any questions about the process can find out more here, or get in touch.
