Development of Flooring Trades Skill Standards and Micro-credentials

We need your feedback

We are in the final stage of developing skill standards for the installation of carpet, resilient and timber flooring products. We encourage members of the flooring community to provide feedback on these skill standards by 6 June 2023 by email to [email protected]

We are excited to support the flooring industry and propose developing micro-credentials that provide introductory skills to support pre-apprentice trainees on their journey towards the Level 4 New Zealand Certificates in flooring trades.

Opportunity to build on training pathways into the flooring trades

We have worked with industry representatives to identify skills, knowledge, and capabilities suitable for someone new to the industry who is not yet ready to take on an apprenticeship. The skills, knowledge and capabilities have been developed into proposed skill standards, which will collectively be made into micro-credentials. These skill standards will support recognising prior learning and training if a trainee enters a Level 4 apprenticeship. Skill standards will replace NZQA unit standards.
