Plumbing, Gasfitting and Drainlaying Apprentice Training Model Roadshows

Kokiri Whakamua | Move Forward is a roadshow about the new Plumbing, Gasfitting and Drainlaying (PGD) apprenticeship model that will begin in January 2025. The new model will deliver more flexible training and a better learning environment for apprentices.  There will be a greater emphasis on workplace training and assessment and apprentices will be required to obtain a ‘level of performance’ in the area where they choose to specialise.

To update the PGD industry, Waihanga Ara Rau’s Plumbing, Gasfitting and Drainlaying Strategic Reference Group is hosting several free roadshows around the country to outline the new apprentice training.

Each roadshow agenda includes:

  • Overview
    • Greg Wallace (Chair, PGD Strategic Reference Group)
  • What have we been doing and what does this mean for the industry (incl. key changes)?
    • Mike Grumball (GM Assurance, Waihanga Ara Rau)
  • Panel discussion
    • Greg Wallace (Chair, PGD Strategic Reference Group)
    • Mike Grumball (GM Assurance, Waihanga Ara Rau and sponsor of PGD Strategic Reference Group )
    • Aleyna Hall (Chief Executive, PGD Board)
    • Representatives from Te Pūkenga and ICE

Light refreshments will be provided at the conclusion of each event.
