Qualification review

Waihanga Ara Rau worked with stakeholders to review the New Zealand Certificate in Foundation Construction (Level 3) to ensure the qualification remained fit for purpose.

Main change

Version 3 of this qualification now has placing and finishing of concrete as an optional strand.
New Zealand Certificate in Foundation Construction (Level 3) with strands in Concrete Foundation Walls and Concrete Slab On-ground, and Pile Foundations and optional strand in Concrete Placing and Finishing [1814-3]

Other changes as a result of the review include:

  • Qualification credit allocation and strategic purpose statement were updated to reflect the new optional strand.
  • Outcomes 2 and 3 were updated to align to current industry practice.
  • Outcome 8 (optional strand) was added to remove a barrier for learners to complete the Concrete Foundation Walls and Concrete Slab On-ground strand of the qualification.
  • Education pathway was updated to include the New Zealand Certificate in Construction Trades Supervision (Level 5) [Ref: 4237].
