The Waihanga Ara Rau Workforce Development Council will be closing operations from 19 December, and disestablished from 31 December 2025. The Energy and Infrastructure Industry Skills Board; Construction and Specialist Trades Industry Skills Board; Electrotechnology and Information Technology Industry Skills Board will pick up its functions.

About the Access Trades Strategic Reference Group (SRG)

The Access Trades SRG represents several prominent industries in New Zealand, including:

  • Cranes
  • Scaffolding
  • Rigging
  • Industrial Rope Access
  • Lifting Equipment
  • Exterior Cleaning

The Access Trades SRG areas of focus include:

  • Enhancing training and qualifications standards to meet workforce needs while maximizing accessibility.
  • Empowering the sector with essential data and relationships to enable proactive responses to changes in the economic environment. ​
  • Developing robust strategies that promote the attraction and retention of a diverse workforce.
  • Championing regulatory reform and policy support that align with sector priorities.
