The Waihanga Ara Rau Workforce Development Council will be closing operations from 19 December, and disestablished from 31 December 2025. The Energy and Infrastructure Industry Skills Board; Construction and Specialist Trades Industry Skills Board; Electrotechnology and Information Technology Industry Skills Board will pick up its functions.

About the Finishing Trades Strategic Reference Group (SRG)

These industries are represented by the Finishing Trades SRG:

Painting and decorating
Flooring
Kitchen and bathroom design
Floor and wall tiling
Exterior plastering
Interior plastering
Interior systems.

Established in March 2023, the Finishing Trades SRG currently has 12 members, including experienced people representing the industry, industry regulator, industry associations, providers, and Waihanga Ara Rau.
