The Waihanga Ara Rau Workforce Development Council will be closing operations from 19 December, and disestablished from 31 December 2025. The Energy and Infrastructure Industry Skills Board; Construction and Specialist Trades Industry Skills Board; Electrotechnology and Information Technology Industry Skills Board will pick up its functions.

About the Gas Infrastructure Strategic Reference Group (SRG)

The Gas Infrastructure SRG represents the following industries in New Zealand:

  • Gas reticulation
  • Gas transmission
  • Gas distribution
  • Gas conditioning
  • LPG storage and handling.

The Gas Infrastructure SRG currently has 5 members, including experienced people representing the industry associations and Waihanga Ara Rau.

Strategic focus areas for the SRG currently include:

  • Workforce Development Plan
  • Training provision in the sector.
