The Waihanga Ara Rau Workforce Development Council will be closing operations from 19 December, and disestablished from 31 December 2025. The Energy and Infrastructure Industry Skills Board; Construction and Specialist Trades Industry Skills Board; Electrotechnology and Information Technology Industry Skills Board will pick up its functions.

Daniel Haines (Te Rarawa) is an Associate Director in the Economic and Social Development team at KPMG New Zealand. He was recently employed as the Head of Māori Outcomes for Eke Panuku Development Auckland. Before that, he partnered with iwi to build the infrastructure for the 2021 America’s Cup and supported Tāmaki-based iwi to negotiate their Treaty settlements on behalf of Auckland Council. He also was the elected president of the Auckland University Students’ Association and the New Zealand Union of Students’ Associations.

Daniel is the Deputy Chair of Academic Quality Agency, which provides external quality assurance for all New Zealand Universities, and ActionStation, an independent, crowdfunded, community campaigning organisation. His previous governance and advisory roles include the Public Service Association, Unitec’s Rūnanga, Student Job Search, and the University of Auckland. Daniel has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Auckland.
