Replacing Unit Standards: New Skill Standards for WTR

The Waihanga Ara Rau Workforce Development Council will be closing operations from 19 December, and disestablished from 31 December 2025. The Energy and Infrastructure Industry Skills Board; Construction and Specialist Trades Industry Skills Board; Electrotechnology and Information Technology Industry Skills Board will pick up its functions.

Home Wheel, Tracks and Rollers skill standards

We’re pleased to share that three new skill standards for Wheels, Tracks and Rollers (WTR) have now been approved and published.

These new standards replace the previous unit standards 16701, 16702, and 16703, which supported Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency endorsements for W, T, and R.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the development of these standards.

A guidance document to support the use of these standards is coming soon. It will include a few additional recommendations from the Skills Training Project, which we’ll check in on with stakeholders shortly.
