Micro-credential development

Waihanga Ara Rau is pleased to announce two micro-credentials designed to support the mathematics skills of learners who want to begin a career pathway into engineering.

ID Title Credits
5326 Level 3: Foundation Mathematics for Engineering (Micro-Credential) 10

These micro-credentials were developed in partnership with Open Polytechnic Kuratini Tuwhera and stakeholders, including engineering organisations.

The Level 3 micro-credential prepares learners for mathematics courses in the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (Level 6) with strands in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Fire Engineering (240 Credits) [Ref: 2612].

The Level 4 micro-credential prepares learners to progress into either DE4102 in the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (with Strands) (Level 6) and/or MG5004 in the Bachelor of Engineering Technology.

Why these micro-credentials matter

Learners can benefit from building foundation mathematics skills and knowledge before beginning study in an engineering context.

The micro-credentials are based on proven learning outcomes to build confidence in mathematics for learners intending to pursue a pathway into engineering.
