Building a new pathway in Demolition

On Wednesday, 12 April, we led a successful meeting with our Demolition Technical Advisory Group to discuss training possibilities for the demolition industry.

The Demolition Technical Advisory Group provides subject matter expertise and experiential knowledge to the development of new credential(s) and standards for the demolition industry.

The meeting was attended by the President of the New Zealand Demolition and Asbestos Association (NZDAA), Helina Stil, representatives from the demolition industry, education provider representatives, and other tangata whai mana (interested parties).

The group was tasked with establishing a training pathway for the demolition industry and deciding on the first credential for development. As a result, development will begin with the entry-level qualification to encourage people into the industry, focusing on health and safety skills and knowledge, and key environmental considerations. This is a very exciting step forward for the demolition industry – e mahi tahi ana ki te kawe mai i te huringa!
