Industrial Rope Access

Proposal

Your input matters

We are reviewing the industrial rope access pathway to better serve and meet the needs of the sector.

The scope of this project is to review the current New Zealand Certificate in Industrial Rope Access (Level 3) [Ref: 2358], the New Zealand Certificate in Industrial Rope Access (Level 4) [Ref: 2359], the New Zealand Certificate in Industrial Rope Access (Level 5) [Ref: 2360] and develop the associated skill standards to replace the existing unit standards.

The Technical Advisory Group have reviewed the current qualification structure and current usage. There are concerns that the current qualifications may not meet industry expectations in terms of duration and content.

In early October, the Technical Advisory Group sought feedback on the current qualifications and evaluating alternative credentials, including a proposed suite of micro-credentials to replace the existing qualification structure.

To ensure that future products reflect industry needs and support workforce development, public consultation was conducted. The initial consultation period, which invited input from industry members and providers, has now closed. We are reviewing feedback on the current qualifications and pathway options.

We will conduct further consultation in the coming month.
