Painting & Decorating

skill standards development

We are pleased to announce the completion of the qualification review and skill standard development for the New Zealand Certificate in Painting and Decorating (Level 4) with strands in Spray Systems, Wallcoverings, and Specialised Coatings listed in April 2025.

Waihanga Ara Rau thanks the Painting and Decorating Technical Advisory Group and representatives from the painting and decorating industry who supported the development work and gave feedback.

Project outcomes

As a result of this project, 14 new skill standards have been listed on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (NZQCF). This also means:

  • New skill standards will be replacing some current unit standards
  • Some current unit standards will be expired
  • The new skill standards are included in the new qualification version.
