Cab-Controlled Gantry Crane

Micro-credential development

This workstream transitioned to the Construction and Specialist Trade Industry Skills Board.

Overview

As part of our wider Cranes review, the Cranes Technical Advisory Group identified the need to design a gantry-crane specific micro-credential to support targeted learning and recognition of skills for those operating cab-controlled gantry cranes.

We’re excited to share with you the proposed Cab-Controlled Gantry Crane Micro-credential, that will better serve and meet the needs of those operating cab-controlled gantry cranes.

This micro-credential offers a standalone credential for those who are operating cab-controlled gantry cranes, and provides additional credential opportunities for those operating in the cranes industry who may be changing to a cab-controlled gantry crane operations role. As part of this micro-credential, we are introducing a gantry-crane specific skill standard to support the skills valued by industry.

Why is this being developed?

  • Address skill gaps and industry needs for a specific crane type – cab-controlled gantry cranes
  • Provide relevant, valuable learning options for learners and employers
  • Include skill standards that will support learner progression into the wider cranes qualification pathway
