The Waihanga Ara Rau Workforce Development Council will be closing operations from 19 December, and disestablished from 31 December 2025. The Energy and Infrastructure Industry Skills Board; Construction and Specialist Trades Industry Skills Board; Electrotechnology and Information Technology Industry Skills Board will pick up its functions.

New micro-credential for Underground Utility Location

A new micro-credential for Underground Utility Location has been approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority | Mana Tohu Mātauranga o Aotearoa (NZQA). This is Underground Utility Location, Level 3 (128369).

This micro-credential provides a formal credential for underground utility locators. We’ve led this project working with technical advisors from industry. Representatives from NULCA, WorkSafe, and the underground utility location industry were involved in the development of this micro-credential and support the need for this.

NZQA approval of this micro-credential enables providers to start development of their learning programmes. These programmes should align with industry recommendations for delivery outlined in the micro-credential.
